Upon successful completion of this course, trainees will be able to:

  • Identify components of the Luminex® 200™ System
  • Identify features of pages and tabs in xPONENT® Software
  • Identify Luminex 200 start-up and initialization procedures
  • Perform probe height adjustment
  • Perform and explain system initialization procedure
  • Describe calibration and control reagents and functions
  • Perform system calibration and performance verification
  • Demonstrate the steps of running an assay using xPONENT
  • Perform a sample assay run
  • Perform the daily shutdown routine
  • Recall system maintenance schedule and tasks
  • Perform the 6-month preventative maintenance tasks
  • Recognize solutions to possible Luminex 200 system issues

  • Understand the basic principles of assay optimization

  • Recognize key steps within carbodiimide coupling chemistry
  • Identify different coupling modification methods
  • Recognize which assay format to use for various applications
  • Perform a coupling titration with an antibody
  • Obtain a microsphere count
  • Outline the workflow of the coupling confirmation procedure
  • Complete the steps of the coupling confirmation procedure
  • Explain the development workflow of a capture sandwich assay
  • Perform a cross-reactivity test of multiple analytes using a capture sandwich assay format
  • Understand the basic principles of assay optimization

Audrey Escalante has over five years of experience in the education and science fields. Audrey has extensive experience in training chemistry, biology, and physics sciences. Audrey attended Illinois State University in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry as well as a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
