April 23-29 is Medical Laboratory Professionals Week
This week we’re celebrating all the dedicated people who make clinical labs the effective, reliable resources we depend on. In honor of Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, we’d like to thank the clinical experts everywhere who are contributing to better patient care and improved health around the world.
This dedicated week began in 1975, and its longevity is evidence of how important the clinical lab community is. As consumers and patients, we’ve all had experience with the essential functions of these labs, from getting cholesterol results to overcoming issues during pregnancy or finding out whether that suspicious mole was malignant. While we don’t always take the time to think about it during testing, these lab teams are there for us at some of our most important moments, providing relief or powerful information to help us make decisions.
In our professional lives, though, we at Luminex think about clinical lab professionals all the time. We know the challenges they grapple with every day, from tools that don’t mesh with the lab information system, to platforms that require too much hands-on time, and so much more. With the rise of genome-based testing and other kinds of molecular assays, clinical labs are becoming more and more central for optimal patient care. In the U.S. alone, there are some 300,000 lab professionals who work hard to generate accurate, reproducible results for virtually any kind of assay need.
Please join us in thanking lab professionals this week for the work they do all 52 weeks of the year (and for which they often receive so little credit). Tweet using #lab4life or just head down the hall and pat somebody on the back!
